The interior ministry of Pakistan is trying to find out some permanent solution to prevent terrorist attacks using the Prepaid SIMs from a couple of months. Up till now PTA and interior ministry have tried to take various different steps, but they stepped back each time while analyzing those ideas before practical implementation. Some of those were home delivery of SIMs, one SIM on one CNIC, complete ban on prepaid SIMs and some others. This time supreme court interfered in this matter and ordered that only five SIMs can be registered against on CNIC number.
PTA has ordered all the cellular companies to make sure before issuing SIM to anyone that the number of SIMS registered on the CNIC of that person should not exceed than five.

To avoid any unwanted circumstances, we highly suggest to block all the inactive SIMs on your name so that you can easily get a new SIM whenever you want to.
It is a confirmed report from cellular companies that they have started practicing it and will not issue the SIM to anyone who has more than 5 SIMs.
This step will surely play a vital role in getting a control over the prepaid SIMs, as so many inactive SIMs will get blocked and companies will have a more refined data of just active SIMs. It will also help companies eliminate the numbers from their list of active SIMs which people purchased, but not using any more.
On asking cellular companies, they replied that they still have not started blocking the SIMs more than 5 on any CNIC number due to some hurdles in its practical implementations. So any such decision is yet to be finalized.
If you don’t know that how many SIMs have been registered on your name, then simply send your CNIC number to 668 and you will be notified via sms that how many SIMs of which network have been issued on your name and then you can visit the branch of the respective carrier company to block any extra or inactive SIM.
