This morning I do one experiment to evaluate the services of cellular companies, the way they take care of new customers as well as activate new connections, we all know about the activation of new sim cards however I personally had no experience by using it, 2 years before on 31st January 2009 PTA impalement extremely important measures to secure and protected registration procedure for brand new sims. Most probably this crappy article will even help to those people who have no idea regarding activation of new sims.

To check this process I visit my nearest franchise of Ufone and purchase one new Ufone Sim, The buying price of new Ufone Sim is Rs.200 with Free balance of Rs 100, they require my NIC copy and fill one simple form and give me guidelines to put signatures and thumb mark in end of that form, I do same without wasting any further time

After returning to home, I put my new sim in cell phone and then call to 789, after that computer system generated voice bored me around 4 to 5 minutes

789 is toll free number, you will not charged any amount by calling on it, this number is used for activation of all sims in Pakistan, Ufone, Warid, Telenor, Zong or Mobilink, To activate our sims its recommended to verify our information by calling on this number, our given information must match with the NIC number which we provide at franchise at buying of sim

Right after 5 minutes, my call pick up by call center Representative, but unfortunately it drop after few seconds, there is no signal issues it look network problem, anyways, I make call again on 789 and again I have to wait for 6 minutes, then the call representive ask me 5 simple questions

My CNIC number
What is my complete name
My mother name
Where I born
My father name

Note: They match our given information with Nadra Records, all information must be correct in order to activate sim

After verification of Data, the person told my sim will be activated in few minutes, generally it take 12 to 48 hours, I was surprised on that time that it will activated in few minutes, after 2 or 3 minutes I start receiving messages from Ufone, they welcome me on their network and also send me their packages detail, i thought my sim was activate, I try to make call but voice comes Sim is not activated please Call Ufone help line to activate it.

I wait for 1 hour and then try to make call but same message, I again make call at 789 it take 5/6 minutes then the person said your sim will be activated in few minutes, at that time I think I have no other option except of wait, so after 30 minutes I check my sim again, IT WAS ACTIVATED

Inshort its very easy to activate sim and my experience was not bad in this process, the purpose of this experiment is only to check services of PTA as 2 and half years passed

We will have to be thankful for PTA with regard to its effort to secure this process and stop for wrong issuance of SIM

Mobilink, the country’s market leader in cellular services, has confirmed partial restoration of all services including voice connectivity, SMS and data in the north region that were affected due to an incident yesterday. Complete restoration is expected within a few hours.

“Partial connectivity was restored in the early hours of the morning and our technical teams continue to work around the clock to ensure that all equipment is fully restored at the earliest,” said Omar Manzur, Director Public Relations, Mobilink.

A fire incident was reported at one of the company’s technical hubs in Islamabad on the evening of Sunday March 6 causing suspension of Mobilink services in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and some pockets outside the twin cities. No loss of human life or telecom equipment was reported.
