How to Format Micro SD Card on Samsung Galaxy S3

Samsung Electronics is the designer, developer and marker of a smartphone called Samsung Galaxy S3. This phone comes with the latest Android version, a whole suite of features that can beat Apple and 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD screen.

Introduction to microSD

Due to the increase in use of portable types of electronic devices the use of portable memory sources has also increased. This mostly applies for the users of video and audio player, recorders, mobile phones etc.  The most widely used memory formats for these portable devices are microSD card.

MicroSD card which is found on the market is the smallest flash memory card. SD refers to ScanDisk which means at first the flash memory was developed by ScanDisk.

SD card is originally manufactured by ScanDisk. SD card is quite larger than the microSD card. After that miniSD came into existence which is quite smaller than SD . Finally the microSD card came into existence which is smallest of all.

MicroSD is the tiny portable memory card. Roughly the size of the card is as the size of fingernail. If you have less space and  more information to store then the microSD card is in the top of the class.

Easy Ways to Format

If you want to format the microSD card which is inside your Galaxy S3 then there are two ways of formatting.

  1. The first way is directly formatting the microSD card from android device. In this method there is no need of additional tools or application is needed.
  2. The second way is formatting externally using Windows or PC with the help of micro USB adaptor.

The first way is easier then the second because you do not need additional tools. Here the process of formatting your microSD is shown using the first process i.e. formatting the microSD card with the android device itself.

Follow the steps to format the microSD card using the first method:

  1. Go to Setting on your Phone
  2. Tap on Storage.
  3. Scroll down to SD Card.
  4. Tap on Format SD Card or Erase USB Storage.
  5. Again, tap on Format SD Card.
  6. Tap on Delete all.

Wait until the process is completed .You will get your microSD card formatted. Enjoy your virus free microSD card.

The second way is quite simple but requires additional devices such as PC and micro USB adaptor.

Follow the steps to format the microSD card using the second method:

  1. Open your PC, put your micrSD card in the micro USB  adaptor and connect it to PC
  2. Open My computer and select the removable drive
  3. Right click on the drive and select format
  4. Select on the Quick format and then OK

Wait until the process is completed .You will get your microSD card formatted. Enjoy your virus free microSD card.
