If you are an iPhone fan, then you no doubt know the value of a good iPhone app. IPhone apps make the seemingly impossible possible – allowing you to do a multitude of tasks while on the go, and from the convenience of a small, hand-held device. What you may not know is that your iPhone’s app store is not only a great source for applications of convenience, but also for applications of learning and knowledge.
Here are five awesome educational iPhone apps:
PopMath Basic Math. This app is a great flashcard alternative, making addition, subtraction, multiplication and division fun and entertaining. What’s especially great about this “game” is that you can choose between the timed and untimed versions, which means there is no “losing,” only learning.
Touch Physics Lite. Okay, this app is not exactly “lite,” as the name suggests . . . but it is highly educational when it comes to some pretty heavy subjects. Kids of all ages (and even adults) can learn a thing or two (or twelve) about gravity, energy, friction, acceleration and more using this simple interface, which involves using the touch screen to guide a wheel to a star through a maze of objects, which works only when in accordance with the known laws of physics. Can you say stimulating?
Bookworm. This vocabulary/spelling game is so popular and widely used that you may choose to refer to it as a classic. It is also appropriate for wordsmiths of all ages and reading levels. Simply try to create the longest word possible from the letter tiles arranged in front of you, and do your best to avoid small words, which burst into flames and burn down your library.

Geocaching. This is an awesome concept that is only possible through the convenience of GPS and WiFi. You basically download the app, which has a database of locations where you can find “geocaches” (or containers of “hidden treasure”), and use your iPhone to lead you to the geocaches. It’s great fun for the entire family, and a real learning experience when it comes to navigation and technology.
FORA.TV. One of the easiest ways to learn is to watch videos, and one of the most well-stocked Internet educational video forums is FORA.TV. Simply download the app to your iPhone, and then browse the hundreds of informative and interesting videos, featuring speeches by the world’s leading thinkers.
Your iPhone is so much more than just a phone or a useful tool. Turn your iPhone into a virtual classroom by downloading these awesome apps.
